JavaScript is a scripting language that runs in the browser. Supported in all modern desktop browsers, it lets us build a richer web experience. Popup windows, rollovers, dynamic tabs and expandable menus can all be created using JavaScript. Even though 90% or more of web users have JavaScript enabled in their browsers, we always make sure that our sites function without JavaScript so that even that last 10% will not miss out on the experience. This kind of planning allows our sites to be accessed by users who require assistive devices and will become more important as alternative web browsers like phones, PDAs and Blackberries become more popular.
